Bike info

When developing the Nerd Mini we realised that it fits into a really important part of a young rider’s adventure with MTB. Kids around 9-12 years old - who are still too small for any ‘grown up’ bikes - found the Nerd Mini a game changer. We realised however that it was necessary to introduce a proper hardtail equivalent because not everyone will be able to dish out the $$ for a full suspension bike, and not all riders will benefit from one. This is how the Eccentric Mini was conceived - a modern MTB trail bike for older kids! When developing the Nerd Mini we found that 27.5” wheels work great for riders who are around 145-155cm height and this is the wheel size that we chose for this scaled down Eccentric. Just like the ‘grown up’ Eccentric bikes, the Mini is a modern, tough trailbike with radical geometry. It’s an efficient climber and is super stable on the downhills. It’s built around a tough alloy frame with a low BB, low standover, slack head angle and steep seat tube angle. Properly designed geometry combined with a negative rise stem means that despite the relatively big wheels, small riders will feel equally comfortable on climbs and descents. A fork with 100mm travel is the optimal choice - anything much more than this will raise the front too much and in our opinion is not really necessary in a hardtail. The key to success on the downhills is the slack head angle and big wheels - this will keep the bike stable even on the roughest trails. It’s worth mentioning that except for a few models from specialist brands, the Eccentric Mini is one of the very few bikes on big 27.5” wheels for kids.

Stay true, stay eccentric! Aggressive modern geometry, long reach and slack head angles - the Eccentric bikes are the hardtails from the future. The big wheels will roll over everything with ease, but at the same time you get the wonderful feeling of being connected with the trail that only a hardtail can provide. You don’t need a full suspension bike to be fast on the climbs and have fun on the downhills! The Eccentric bikes are available in several versions. If you’re looking for a hard hitter, choose between the cromo and the alu based on your preferences of frame materials. For typical trail riding, the Lite versions should be more than enough. We also have a scaled down Mini version for kids around 9-12 years old.
